We are Yolanda Vila and Toni Pozo, a couple of travelers now living in a village near Barcelona. The travels around the world are our passion, but always we enjoy to travel by our own way. And such enthusiasm and passion we feel for travelling is that we can tackle the great personal effort to keep this site, born in early 2001 as a hobby and with an active presence since then.
We want to remind you that we are not any travel agent or tour company and, therefore, we do not sell any tourist product or service and we don't organize any trip. The contents of this website is just for giving first-hand information and help other travelers, while the few ads that you will find let us to cover the costs of maintaining this site. So, for now, we won't appear on the Forbes list.
Our website is addressed to anyone who likes to plan their own trip, out of the classic "tours" with the classic agencies. We want to share our modest travelling experience, compiled in every trip that we do. So Viatgeaddictes.com is not a travel agency and we don't sell any product or service. It's only a personal page, non-commercial, with practical information for the independent traveler, designed to enable travelers to save their time and money, and giving them also the freedom to make their own choices.
At this moment you can find a full version of the web contents in Catalan and Spanish languages, but unfortunately we don't have enough time to create an English version (we're maintaining this website in our little spare time, because is like a hobby for us, but our available time is really little).
We apologize for this !!. Maybe in a future Viatgeaddictes.com will have a full English version...
In any case we invite you to read our online travelogues (at the left side of this page) from around the world we've visited. They're written in Spanish language, but you'll find a map with our itinerary and much information about transportation, visas, accommodation, restaurants, travel budget, what to see, interesting links, etc.
The Catalan word viatgeaddicte means literally a person addicted to travel. But this is not enough. In our opinion, a traveler must also have a personal attitude to the visited places and the local people. For example, we think it's very important to travel without prejudices towards the cultural differences and the ways of life found, because these are not better or worst, only different. We must respect their way of life and customs, adapting our life to them while travelling. Also we must try to travel without hurries, learning everything from the visited country, before and during the trip: history, customs, gastronomy, language, etc. We think also that our money must go to local people (hotels, transportation, or shopping), instead of multinational groups.
To finish this presentation we want to apologize for our English skill. Enjoy this website and we hope you'll find it very useful for next trips. Thanks for visit us!.
